Gufram

Manufacturing objects and furniture from some of the world's finest avant-garde designers since 1952, Gufram is the antithesis of the Bauhaus philosophy which holds functionalism at its core. Key designs are available at Design 55, among them the 'Bocca' sofa in the form of a giant pair of red lips designed by Hella in the 1970s, conceived as a tribute to the great surrealist Salvador Dali; the 'Cactus' - designed by Guido Drocco and Franco Mello in 1972 - a playful object or clothes hook available in green and limited edition white; the 'Sassi' designed by Piero Gilardi in 1968 - an ingenious water and weather proof seating solution in the guise of a rock, and the 'Softcrete' designed by Ross Lovegrove in 2006 - a theatrical sofa system inspired by minimalist architecture which appears to be constructed from moulded concrete.

Design 55 has exclusive agency in New Zealand.
